ON TURNING 25 YEARS OLD

I know a lot of people who have shuddered at the idea of 25. Many people I’ve spoken with look that number square in the face and, for some reason, become terrified. They roll their eyes and groan, “I’m a quarter century old!” or more often, “I’m now closer to 30 than 20 and that depresses me.”

I don’t get it!

MY COVER LETTER TO BLACKROCK

The job application process has always slightly distressed me because of how fake it always felt. Writing resumes and cover letters always felt in some ways like I was manipulating truths and rearranging cliches, and it has always given me a feeling of unease.
